In the last times the use of artificial intelligence and deep learning to improve photos and videos has become popular, and several applications have appeared that allow it to be done easily and effectively. It works like this: An AI is trained with an image or video database to be able to recognize patterns and reconstruct images by filling in the information gaps with consistent information that would be logical to fill those gaps. This allows to do things like to resize a lot an image adding details that aren't present in the original image. Here is an example of this: The original image of Gandalf is the left one, with about 300 px of height... I used Gigapixel AI to resize it to 1440 px of height. As you can see, the detail gain in clothing, face and beard hairs is incredible, adding a non-existent detail in the original. You can do this too with cartoons, CGI and videogame graphics (in fact, the famous DLSS of the RTX graphic cards it's exactly the same), and with videos too. There are too applications like DAIN that uses an AI to interpolate the fps of any video, so you can do a 60 fp video from a 30fps one. That said, why not to use this kind of technics to enhance some laserdisc games? That's exactly what i have done. This works extremely well with cartoons/anime, so the logical choose was the Don Bluth's trilogy (Dragon's Lair 1 & 2 and Space Ace). I used some programs like Video Enhace AI to upscaling from 720p versions to 1080p with a noticeable improvement in image quality (AI processing removes all compression defects, image noise and adds new detail to textures). I did versions on 16:9 and 4:3 formats for use with Daphne emulator, with original english audio and adding spanish audio from Fx Interactive spanish Pc versions of the games. Too bad Daphne only uses mpeg2 codecs. With more modern ones like H.264 o H.265 i can do the same to UHD and 60fps with very impressive results. Hello everyone, i'm proud to announce the launch of Singe 2.0 designed by Scott Duensing. For history, Singe 2 is the successor of Singe, a dll for Daphne allowing to adapt/create laserdisc games. Singe 2 is no longer dependant of Daphne. It is a standalone program (for Windows 32/64, Mac, Linux) and many games are already available. GAMING MODES: In the option menu, you can define the gaming mode among: - Normal: that's the classic type. For each failure you lose a life and go back to start of Level/Scene/Move - Life Bar: You've got hit points and lose some for each failure, a serie of good moves will give you some life (this is an easier mode than normal) - Percent: you just play one level and cannot die. At the end you % rate will be determined (this is a good trainer) - Survivor: One Life, No continue, No save, dedicated High score. AUDIO STUTTERING PROBLEM: Some may experience audio stuttering. Msincognito (thanks) pointed the fact that Singe does not like 5.1 settings. So be sure that your audio card is set to Stereo and not to 5.1. That should solve the problem. If that does not work, then try to change Realtek drivers to regular windows HD audio drivers. Also the game might also stutter because your computer has difficulties with the HD overlay. In that case try to set it to LO def (last option of the menu - key 9) Last but not least, some people reported that setting singe.exe to launch as admin does improve things. To do this right click on Singe.exe and choose "Properties". Then go to the "Compatibility" tab and tick "Run as Administrator". Apply, you're done.

HI Everyone, This is an updated thread of the same topic found here. We weren't able to contact the OP so we just decided to make one that we can maintain/update! Reasons for the creation of this thread: The original thread provides a link to DDR Ace (DDR A) which is data dump 20190422. Technically, that is not DDR A20 although it contains some A20 data already pre-loaded. We are unable to contact the OP of the original/old thread in order to ask him/her to update the link to the data dump. A long way has gone in terms of methods/procedures for setting up the game, DDR A20. Of course we give due credit to the people behind the original thread because they exerted efforts doing trial-and-error to make things work! Butterfly (our fork) has gone a long way. What initially started out as an individual project (a.k.a. "topet's butterfly"), eventually became a small group's project. On that note, this small group of individuals do not look at, nor weigh, their contributions in the quantitative sense. The fact of the matter is, there is mutual dependency in the contributions that went into (our fork of) butterfly in its current state, such that a missing piece/contribution by any single one in this group couldn't have made butterfly "whole" all by himself. In this sense, our contributions are weighted qualitatively and hence, as I personally see it, all are equal and therefore all individuals in this small group have equal stake for decisions involving this fork of butterfly. These are the people who have helped make butterfly what it is today: @tw3nz0r @bman @Towlesy27 @Sirk @One Eternal Ash @kanor And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey. This decision to (hopefully, momentarily) stop openly supporting the use of butterfly with DDR Arcade (Ripped) Data is a very painful decision, at least for me personally, because - and again, this is in no way undermining the group that made it for what it is today - the fact remains that it started as an individual person's project. As such I would almost say that this is my "baby" project. And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me. I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made. Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds). In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). I am amazed at not only your work, but also your dedication for doing this. I am a patron of some of these 3rd-party servers too. I personally hope that things will eventually turn out for the better because I am still very excited in helping others as you have seen me do. Let us hope for the best and make this a learning lesson as we move forward.

Virtua Striker 4 (all Arcade Triforce versions) on Windows PC with Dolphin Triforce-brodostar-v4.0-310.1 This is a custom Dolphin Triforce build based off of v4.0-310 (latest update from @crediar ~8 years ago). The latest version of Dolphin Triforce technically already emulates VS4, but what’s preventing it from running is the Media board boot/firm version check at boot, and the incorrect input mapping for the game (VS4 is the only game in the franchise with analog lever input). I spent a while playing with the Dolphin Debugger + Ghidra to find the instruction to patch for the boot/firm check and learning the JVS spec to add support for analog lever input for VS4. I also included all the patches for configuring all the game settings, including disabling the network/card in-game features (to remove the network/card unavailable icons at the bottom of the screen). [ARCADE PC] CLIFF HANGER AC - BLU-RAY DISC REMASTERED (Laserdisc) Hello folks, I’m back with a story that is quite nuts… after the upload of Timegal last time, I promised to resume from the dead also a restored edition of Cliff Hanger made by a cool guy in 2009… Well… While digging into my archives it turns out I have found something even better… A true remaster (not restoration) that I did personally in 2010 after I have bought in Tokyo the Japanese blu-ray of Cagliostro and Mamo… I guess being very busy for all these years has erased from my memories such event cause I have to admit the surprise has been definitely jaw dropping since I had no recollection of it whatsoever until I found the lost folder (probably the weed was very good, LOL)… Anyway… now that this little crappy masterpiece has been brought back to light and being so pleased by the fact that I got back so many good memories of that specific time I’m ready to share it with all of you… I did it with such meticulous love and a killer frame by frame precision that I’m sure you’ll be able to notice the incomparable difference with the original blurry Laserdisc capture, so here it is truly hoping that all the purists around here are gonna have a blast with it, Enjoy and Peace!! I added also an HD CD layout ready to be printed if you wish to archive it on a physical support. The remaster it comes in three different versions: - 640x480_30i - The exact replica of the laserdisc 30 frames (60 fields) per second interlaced. Use this one if you want to play Cliff Hanger on an arcade monitor or a (CRT) TV. - 640x480_24p - 24 frames per second progressive scan. This is the way the animation was drawn in the first place, and perfect for Desktop PC. - 640x480_24p_letterbox - 24 FPS progressive letterboxed. Hello everyone, Time for a final update towards the project and what’s next going forward. First of all, thanks to everyone for their patience and understanding for the delays on the project. We had a set date of late February 2023 - March 2023 but had some slight issues to deal with. With all of that resolved, we provide to you a link with both forks for you to use for free *WE NO LONGER HAVE A PATREON* later updated builds will be released to the public when ready and tested. Also, please do not forget to donate to the official RPCS3 patreon for their amazing work, without the amazing PS3 emulator, you wouldn’t have seen perfect NAMCO SYSTEM 357 emulation. As for other stuff like server support for Banapassport games, those will have to wait due to how hard and expensive the process will be, so no DBZ online for now. Hello folks, I thought it was time to bring some more nostalgia from the 80’ (since it’s never enough...LOL)… I did this remastering quite long time ago with the intention to achieve the closest result to the arcade version and to share it one day through a proper channel, as a purist I was a bit disappointed about the original Singe release since the team who did the port (I guess for legal reasons) has done various changes stylistically weird such as the UI elements, options screen, slate and ending roll/credits so I decided to improve their work by editing the whole thing and remastering the video track as well, I believe the result achieved it’s pretty much neat, I don’t know how many people out there are interested in these kind of “obsolete” games but I’m pretty sure that for some of us Timegal it’s still considered a milestone of the laserdisc age, so here it is for the community and in its all arcade glory, enjoy! Note: This currently works only on Nvidia video cards with AMD fix to come - I tested on my Nvidia GTX 1080Ti OC. Please note that all of this was made possible by the following people: Harry99710 for the game dump and initial guide. Kobe46 for a step-by-step guide and edited config files. Cbeluz40, Spiderzsoft, Windows10xp8 & Petje for input and feedback. OK, grab a coffee and some cookies here we go... Step 1: Download MegaDownloader app from here: https://megadownloader.en.softonic.com and install it or extract files to your desktop. Step 2: Download the latest game dump from the official thread below. 3. Launch the MegaDownloader app, copy the link address and click on Add URL, browse to where you want to save it and click on Start (leave all login settings default) 4. Once downloaded, extract the "SDDF_1.31.00" folder to the root of your C:\ drive so it should look like this: C:\SDDF_1.31.00 (Do not use the installed segatools and minime server files found in the downloaded package as I couldn't get them to work no matter what) 5. Go into the minime folder and right-lick on start.bat and choose Run as Administrator - if correct you should see the below - leave this open in the background do not close: app:switchboard HOST_EXT: 127.0.0.1 (Service host name sent to clients) +0ms app:switchboard HOST_INT: 0.0.0.0 (Bind address) +2ms app:switchboard Using default host names, change them from the .env file if necessary. +0ms Startup OK 12. Go into the following directory C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\ and look for the inject.exe file, right-click and choose Properties > Compatibility and tick Run this program as Administrator > OK 13. Go to the start.bat file found in the same location as the above C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\ and right-click then Run as administrator You will see a series of windows popup with security warnings to accept - choose yes to all and let it run in the background 14. The first run never works for me, after everything loads, you will see a black screen that many are experiencing - close all the windows including minime server 15. Go back to the inject.exe file mentioned in Step 12 and this time do the same and untick Run as Administrator 16. Go back to C:\minime\ and run the virtual server again by running start.bat as Administrator (FOR ME, THE GAME STILL RAN FINE WITHOUT THIS STEP SO IT MAY NOT BE NEEDED) 19. Finally, run C:\SDDF_1.31.00\app\package\start.bat as normal no need for Administrator rights and it should load - wait for all the calibration and then press ALT+ENTER for full-screen mode & ESC to exit If you cannot exit (like for me in many cases), press ALT+CTRL+DEL and manually end the Direct3D Window to close I know there are nearly 20 steps to get this working but I wanted to break each one down to ensure everything is not missed. This was such a headache for many users including myself. [Arcade PC] Daphne 4K, 60fps remastered and complete laserdisc arcade collection I started work on an upscaled version of Dragon's Lair and Space Ace about a month ago then discovered I was beaten to it by Sirdrak (thank you). I thought there may be something more I could do here so I upscaled the deep learning versions to 4K using waifu2x-caffe and produced some HD 60fps versions too (with FFMPEG). I added a little custom desktop front end which allows easy launching, decent configuration (including spanish audio and widescreen) and command line support. I then upscaled Thayer's quest, although the source video was not great and I also added the remastered version of Cliff Hanger, tested it all and with the front end, cleaned it all up and bundled it altogether in an easy to use ISO and here it is: https://mega.nz/file/axYG2RCR#6jIEO8rAU_U4JZt-sbjT_AP7_4Ba9ondnFIKTjZJrY8 I wanted to share this and I feel many will like it. Basically these are the first 4K versions of Dragon's Lair, Space Ace, Thayers Quest, and Dragon's Lair 2. Nobody else has seen them other than me. Those are the only 4 games in Daphne capable of running at other resolutions. Since the remastered SD version of Cliff Hanger is the only other good quality video I decided to add that too. Still currently this is the best out there with Daphne at this point. I split the VOB into two parts as Daphne will not work with a video over 2GB. This allows a 1440P version with a reasonable quality MPEG2. - Since I had good results with Thayer's quest I ran Cobra Command through MADVR and am calling this an HQ version which is also included. Daphne does not allow an upscaled version of this game but in my opinion this version looks better. Again, if someone has a better LD capture I would be happy to have another go but cant do a lot with Daphne. Maybe someone can make a Singe 2 version? - This version utilizes the bezel project and works similar I guess to Rocketlauncher (although I did not look at it or the code) if you want this option. I have an outstanding issue with the ALT key pausing/unpausing the game when using Bezels and not sure how to fix that right now. Its because Daphne is running in a window. If anyone wants to help fix let me know.
