The system’s power came from add-on LD-ROM packs: Mega-LD Pack (with Sega): Play 8” and 12” Mega-LD discs, Sega CDs, Genesis carts, and CD+G discs. Came bundled with Pyramid Patrol and a 4-in-1 Sega classic collection (Revenge of Shinobi, Golden Axe, Streets of Rage, Columns). LD-ROM² Pack (with NEC): Play LD-ROM² discs, NEC CD-ROM², Super CD, HuCard games, and more. Hi is this incorporated into the latest version of Ares or do we have to use a specific version that emulates the Mega LD?  If so could someone provide a link. 

 

Hope we can preserve these very rare discs if the collectors are out there as this format is prone to disc rot.

Amazing work by the Ares dev's and Mega LD disc preservers, and for you to share here thank you so much. Great to see this rare system and games starting to get preserved     

 

Also loved the promotional video about the player "Remember the operating instructions manual is your secret weapon!" LOL. 

 

Hope to see more added to this thread in the future would be great to see the full library one day.  Like you said this is a preservation rescue mission.

Yes well the work isn't my own, I'm just trying to bring more awareness to the project! All praise should go to those involved in bringing this effort to the masses! Video game preservation is important!

It's actually already in the bios files but it's naming convention makes you think it's all Japanese. Everything is there to play in the links.

when i load space berserka, i get a display messege saying - the cartridge memory is not present. how do i get past this screen and load the game thanks. rockect coaster works fine

just format through that menu that tells you it's out of memory. Use the start button you mapped not the other buttons to confirm. It will restart and work properly after that.

je lance un jeu mais je reste bloqué sur la page d'accueil de ares et sega megaLD sans possibilité de lancer quoi que ce soit.....on peu juste choisir son controller (control - fighting - megamouse)....

35-40 fps in myst. Haven't tried anything else yet. I guess the cause is that the HDD is simply not fast enough for such a bitrate. I hope to see lossy-encoded dump someday...

Hi, I asked to openIA to make a rocketlauncher module for Ares. The problem I have actually is for Mega CD 32X. When I use the argument --system MegaCD32X it launch that system but there is an autodetection that detect just a sega CD. Then I have a message that tell me that I need the 32x extention. I'll try my module with sega mega LD. If it's ok i'll post it here. But you can easily ask to openIA. The first time, the module was not closing ares correctly. I tell it to openAI and the second time it was OK. He learn very quickly

I haven't tried "Ares" yet, but I'm going to try it to test the Sega Mega LD 
(even if I find the games a bit heavy in GB for the gameplay they offer). 
But like that, I'd say that you just need to find the command line, like:

(Run, %Executable% --system MegaLD %RomName%.%RomExtention% --fullscreen) 

something like that... then the appropriate scripts to exit properly and that's it.

what are the best audio settings? The sound is a bit choppy at my side but I do not know if this is still something which needs to be iron-ed out or if it is just me and my slightly older rig not capable enough (8700k+1080ti)

Still great to see to thing of the past being emulated (I am that old that I did see this machine at my local laserdisc shop in the 90-ies)

Yes, you can make .bat files for each game, but the best is to make the .ahk module. 
It will remain roughly the same command line; you probably have to adapt it a little.

It's not easy to explain all this to someone who doesn't have a good grasp of the subject =) 
I'm waiting for a 30 GB game to finish downloading and I'll do some tests afterwards, 
I'll post a .bat file that will do the job and you'll have to edit it together according to the tree structure of your folders 
and the names of your files

I have roughly the same PC configuration as you, I'll see if the fps are good or bad and if we can find a solution

the emulation of the megaLD is very fresh, maybe the emulation is not yet at the top for this system

Yes I tested 2 games, hyperion and vajra, only hyperion US works, vajra JAP there is an error and does not launch. 
Hyperion has freezes surely the emulator not yet hyper developed for this system, 
I put in opengl 3.2 the video and the sound in SDL
