I think you're absolutely right, so it definitely needs a detailed tutorial:

BIOS files       Place in: pcsx2/bios
chd file           Place in: pcsx2/rom
boot.elf file     Place in: pcsx2/rom
PS2 file           Place in: pcsx2/memcards
.ACGame file  Place in: pcsx2
Run the game

Remember: The boot.elf file and CHD file must be in the same folder, for example: roms/NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP

1. You must obtain the BIOS files for versions 246 and 256 from elsewhere: r27v1602f.7d, r27v1602f.8g

2. Download the CHD file from the MAME folder, for example, tekken4.chd

For example, search like this:

NM00010 Battle Gear 3=batlgr3
NM00004 Tekken 4=tekken4
NM00019 Tekken 5=tekken51
NM00026 Tekken 5 - Dark Resurrection=tekken5d
NM00048 Fate - Unlimited Codes=acedriv3

Link: https://archive.org/download/MAME_0.225_CHDs_merged

If you want to convert, you need to use chdman.exe. Use this syntax: create a new .txt file with the following content and then rename it to a .bat file:

iso file conver:

for /r %%i in ( *.iso) do chdman createdvd -i "%%i" -o "%%~ni.chd" -hs 2048

img(hdd file) conver:

for /r %%i in (*.img) do chdman createhd -i "%%~fi" -o "%%~dpni.chd" -hs 512

This will give you the chd file.

Download Link: https://archive.org/download/system2x6/Namco System 2X6/

Explanation: If you can directly download the .chd file from the MAME, you can use it directly. If it's not in the MAME but only in another link, then you'll need to convert it. Otherwise, you don't need to convert it at all.

3. You need a boot.elf file. Remember the boot.elf file for each dongle. The files are all different and cannot share the same one.

https://archive.org/download/dongle-files-ps2-namco-arcade-system-2x6

4. You need a dongle file, which is a .ps2 file.

Link: https://archive.org/download/system2x6/Namco System 2X6/

Rename the downloaded dongle .bin file to .ps2.

5. First, create a new .txt file with the following content:

[game]
name=Tekken 4 JAP
gameid=NM00004
[data]
subdir=roms/NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP
elf=boot.elf
dongle=NM00004 TEF1, Ver.D a025671225212a.ps2
card=
mediasrc=tekken4.chd
media=DVD

Finally, rename it to .acgame.

6. Drag and drop the .acgame file onto pcsx2-qtx64-avx2.exe to start the game.

The first time you run it, you must learn to run one game. Then you can operate other games. Do not operate several games at the same time, as it will be very confusing.

Thanks for the guide. I couldn't get YuYu Hakusho's ELF to work from that dongle pack, though. Does it work for you?

I did the update by mistake and it changed it to the PCSX2 (PS2) emulator, so had to delete and install again! Do not update via the emulator.

J'ai fait la mise à jour par erreur et elle a changé l'émulateur pour PCSX2 (PS2), j'ai donc dû la désinstaller et la réinstaller ! Ne faites pas la mise à jour via l'émulateur.

About this issue...maybe a "portable.txt" can be placed into emulator folder like for others emulators, so all updates and changes remain into that folder;

how do we create 3.  a boot.elf file. that part im not understanding | NVM i get it now.

The downloaded compressed file already contains it; you just need to find the corresponding folder. Of course, this requires some experience.

First, go to this website:

https://archive.org/download/system2x6/Namco System 2X6/

Then you will see this dongle file: NM00035 YH1, Ver.A a032781000497a.bin.gz

Therefore, you should look for the folder starting with YH1; inside you will find the boot.elf file.

Is it possible to access the test menu in supported games? If so, what button combination is used to open it?

You have to go to the JVS Controls menu (in the emulator's UI) and toggle it while the game is on, then toggle it off when you're done. Otherwise you'll be stuck in the test menu. Had to do this for the English version of Cobra the Arcade so that it uses the uncensored models.

You set what it is by going into the emulator > Settings > Controllers, then go to JVS Controls. Program what buttons you want for Test or Service.

do you think you can make a tutorial video so ppl can see it done in real time,that might help get a better understanding of how to do things correctly

Hi, I downloaded latest emulator (0.0.11 win x64) and downloaded the 2 bios.

Unzipped the emulator, created a "bios" folder in which I extracted the two bios.

Downloaded "Soul Calibur 2" from the dedicated thread, unzipped and copied into main emulator folder.

Started emulator for the first time, unticked automatic updates, selected 246 bios, selected rom folder, nothing enabled in retroachievements... and now in main emulator window the game "Soul Calibur 2" is not listed, I can only see "boot" so I double click and I get only black screen, no audio. I'm on direct 12 . If I select the 256 bios, nothing changes, always black screen. Where is the mistake? Thanks!  (Changed from d12 to vulkan and opengl but I still have black screen)

Posté(e) (modifié)

are black screens normal for some games. or does most games have some kind of boot screen? example Smash Court i tried that and it boots but it gives me a black screen. so i wanted to make sure if sometimes thats something to expect until future updates

do you know if in the bios folder the two bios are needed at the same time or only one of the two?

Andymage has posted at page 56 a very detailed procedure about how to set files in order to make everything work and convert roms as well,

regarding the black screen it's because I guess you're trying to launch the games through the UI, you need instead to create a command file for each title and put it in the root of the emulator folder, at least this worked for me, make a txt file with a line like this    C:\whatever\folder\pcsx2-qt.exe "whatevergame.acgame" (within quotes), then rename the file .cmd and run it, you should be golden then, all works very well actually!

Both bios are needed, tekken 5 is a sys256 game for example...

I read page 56. Among  the files provided in the new thread , I have for Soul Calibur 2 an "Arcade Boot.cmd" ; in this .cmd is written : "pcsx2-qtx64-avx2.exe "Soul Calibur 2.acgame" . The .cmd is in the same folder of emulator. If I double click on it or open with admin, I get nothing.

Solved changing the .exe description, thanks

Thank you so much! After setting my game directory to the System256-vic_vp folder or basically the whole emulator folder (not ROMS) in the settings, all games came up and loaded fine! That way it looks in every directory with the memory card dongle files, BIOS and CHD's at once! Why did I not think of that before 🤦 lol! Fantastic work!

Got this one and it's working great. Thanks for all the hints at this board.

Time Crisis 3 has calibration problem. How can I calibrate? Is there a way to go to Test/Service Mode?

Also, I tested Soul Calibur 2 and the kick button isn't working for any character. Is there a fix?

Does anyone know how to setup button 3 and 6 in Capcom Fighting Jam?

Edit: Never mind I solved it, I was using a wrong game id

make sure the name in the .cmd file matches with the .exe you are running, for example mine was simply pcsx2-qt.exe, when I noticed the discrepancy in the cmd file I just edited names and voila!

you could ask 10 different people and get 10 different version of the acgame files depending on what their file names, file locations, etc are.  it's honestly not as difficult as everyone is making it out to be.

Anyone has the correct "acgame" files for all the games and can upload it in a zip file?

Please.

I’m working on it. I have 25 already made. Some of them are a bit of a pain to do (Dragon Chronicle, Druaga Online, and Idolm@ster)

Hi all.

I'm testing Tekken 4 (Namco System 246) on pcsx2x6 and running into a credit issue. No matter how I configure the controller inputs, pressing P1 START launches a game even with credits at 0 and no coin inserted.

In Coin Options I have Free Play set to NO and Start Cost set to require credits, and COIN and START are mapped to separate inputs. I also tried removing the coin button from the DualShock 2 controller mapping (it was on SELECT) and assigning it only under JVS Controls → Insert Coin P1 instead, but the START button behavior didn't change at all.

It behaves as if START also injects a coin and consumes it in the same press. Is this a known bug in the JVS coin/credit emulation, or is there a config step I'm missing to make START actually require a credit? Thanks.

That's strange. Something similar happened to me. I was testing versions 0.10 and 0.11 of the emulator, but I noticed that Tekken 4 and Tekken 5.1 have a bug where, even if you insert the credits, the game doesn't subtract them and doesn't set them to 0. It must be an emulation bug, but it only happens with those games, since I tested Vampire Night and it subtracts the credits correctly.
