So it's mute the volume and play the game at normal speed or with smoother sound and painfully slow speed. Either way it's not really playable at this point. As for my cpu, it's old. It's a 7th gen i5 3.0ghz. It's funny how an almost 30 year old game struggles on modern hardware. Modifié le 17 juillet par 80sRkadeGuy

Scheang Posté(e) le 31 août Posté(e) le 31 août Hi guys, I have a homemade arcade stick setup with 3 joysticks and multiple buttons. Things were working fine but recently I had to move the computer and I powered off the usb hub that the controllers were plugged into. I was using the "read only" method in the .cfg folder so Mame remembered my controller setup. When I booted up and tried launching Mame, it crashed and I discovered that something in the .cfg folder was now causing the crash (so, something happened when I unplugged powered off the hub for the arcade stick). I deleted the folder and tried creating a new .cfg by launching a game and setting up the controls, but now I get this (see photo). As you can see, when I try to assign a joystick movement, it populates with a TON of other buttons/controllers and won't let me enter any controllers. I had this problem once before and (stupid me) I didn't write down the solution. Please HELP! Fyi, the sticks and buttons are all detected in Windows 11, I'm getting no errors for the USB controllers in Device Manager and this was working just prior to shutting off the usb hub.

Hi, I should've put that I tried that too. As soon as i click, it just populates with all the controllers and buttons at the bottom and won't let me input anything. I included what I hope is a better pic.
3nigm4 Posté(e) le 31 août Posté(e) le 31 août Yes, the picture is better ;) It may be displayed at the bottom, because the list grows by inserting a button as a choice. Is it impossible to delete the list by pressing "Delete" simply by placing yourself on the line without pressing "Enter"? I admit that this is the first time I see this! Otherwise you have to find the .ini or .cfg file and delete the list of keys already recorded perhaps
3nigm4 Posté(e) le 31 août Posté(e) le 31 août It seems as if all your buttons are pressed and that suddenly it gives you an infinite list of buttons. I don't know how you made your pad, with which and how many USB PCBs, 2x1 player or 1x2 player, xinmotek or another brand but it could be a problem with the USB connector or ground.
3nigm4 Posté(e) le 31 août Posté(e) le 31 août If it doesn't come from your arcade pad, it's because it's mame that has a problem, try in a new folder to cut/paste all the files of your mame to keep only the executable and the roms folder then launch the executable so that it redoes its entire file folder tree then try to configure again

It worked before and the only thing I did was unplug the power to the usb hub, so I doubt it's a hardware issue. I have had this happen to me before but I can't remember how I fixed it unfortunately. 33 minutes ago, 3nigm4 said: If it doesn't come from your arcade pad, it's because it's mame that has a problem, try in a new folder to cut/paste all the files of your mame to keep only the executable and the roms folder then launch the executable so that it redoes its entire file folder tree then try to configure again I actually tried downloading Mame and installing a seperate, fresh copy. Same problem happened when I tried to program the controls.

Scheang Posté(e) le 2 septembre Posté(e) le 2 septembre UPDATE - I have 3 joysticks. 2 generic and 1 Tron. Without doing any configuration, Mame is using the Tron stick and buttons (for some strange reason). If I unplug Tron, launch a game and hit Tab, the menu just keeps flickering and I can't get into it! So what the hell?

Have you tried plugging in only one pad at a time to see if one is malfunctioning?

The 3 keyboards showed up again, I tried deleting 2 except this time, it did not solve the issue in mame. I have no idea what's going on. I have the impression that either Windows does not recognize your "controllers" well or the "controllers" have a small problem? If the controllers come from this kind of arcade stick (X arcade), and you need an adapter then Windows can misinterpret it and take it for a keyboard I think 1

You probably have to set up controller id's in mame so it always loads the correct controller as the correct id for example this is how windows sees all of my devices. but if any gets unplugged or even a reboot can load them in a different order so joy1 might become joy2. have to tell mame the device id and what to load it as. <?xml version="1.0"?> <mameconfig version="10"> <system name="default"> <!-- Keyboards: USB Keyboard: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_046D&PID_C534&MI_00#7&69638be&0&0000#{884b96c3-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) IPac: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0420&MI_00#8&6adaee4&0&0000#{884b96c3-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Wheel V KB: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_046D&PID_C232#2&b4b7c37&3&0000#{884b96c3-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Gcon2P1: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8042&MI_02&Col02#8&1a22278a&0&0001#{884b96c3-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Zapper: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8044&MI_02&Col02#8&1c5102a3&0&0001#{884b96c3-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Mouse: USB Mouse: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_046D&PID_C534&MI_01&Col01#7&c99e380&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Gcon2P1: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8042&MI_02&Col01#8&1a22278a&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Zapper: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8044&MI_02&Col01#8&1c5102a3&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) U360P1: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0511&MI_01#8&29084685&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) U360P2: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0512&MI_01#8&20ce3bd9&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Ipac: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0420&MI_01#8&2a84eca6&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Light Gun: Gcon2P1: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8042&MI_02&Col01#8&1a22278a&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Zapper: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_2341&PID_8044&MI_02&Col01#8&1c5102a3&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) USB Mouse: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_046D&PID_C534&MI_01&Col01#7&c99e380&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) U360P1: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0511&MI_01#8&29084685&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) U360P2: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0512&MI_01#8&20ce3bd9&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) IPac: (device id: \\?\HID#VID_D209&PID_0420&MI_01#8&2a84eca6&0&0000#{378de44c-56ef-11d1-bc8c-00a0c91405dd}) Joystick: U360P1: (device id: Ultimarc Ultra-Stik Player 1 product_0511d209-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_e6f671d0-6efc-11f0-800b-444553540000) U360P2: (device id: Ultimarc Ultra-Stik Player 2 product_0512d209-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_e6f6e700-6efc-11f0-800c-444553540000) Gcon2P1: GUN4IR P1 (device id: GUN4IR P1 product_80422341-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_3783b2f0-6f9a-11f0-8001-444553540000) Zapper: GUN4IR P3 (device id: GUN4IR P3 product_80442341-0000-0000-0000-504944564944 instance_f7aeaca0-7144-11f0-8001-444553540000) Wheel: USB\VID_046D&PID_C26D&REV_3902 --> <input> <mapdevice device="Ultimarc Ultra-Stik Player 1" controller="JOYCODE_1"/> <mapdevice device="Ultimarc Ultra-Stik Player 2" controller="JOYCODE_2"/> <mapdevice device="VID_2341;PID_8042" controller="GUNCODE_1"/> <mapdevice device="VID_2341;PID_8044" controller="GUNCODE_2"/> </input> </system> </mameconfig> I have done that in the past (super complicated) but the issue is, I can't even program the controllers within Mame at this point. If I get the controller ID's, would I not then need to go into Mame and assign my controls still? 2 hours ago, 3nigm4 said: What version of mame did you have before updating to 0.280? A "no nag input"? What windows did you have before the problem arose? I have the impression that either Windows does not recognize your "controllers" well or the "controllers" have a small problem? If the controllers come from this kind of arcade stick (X arcade), and you need an adapter then Windows can misinterpret it and take it for a keyboard I think It's a homemade arcade contoller using a GRS 12 in one board. It's usb so no adapter. This has worked before and I have no idea why it's doing this.
