  1. Can anyone point me to the clean dumps of older IIDX PC titles (especially IIDX 16 Empress, since this is the one I want to play).

I got the dump from the Bemani Touhou torrent on nyaa, but couldn't get IIDX 16 to work properly. There are several exes, but it either didn't launch or it launches but the controls don't work at all.

    The game won't launch - log.txt

OK, I got the game running now (using ASIO4ALL and changing audio backend in SpiceTools to ASIO), but now there's no sound.

EDIT : Nevermind. Shared Audio mode is still on. Turn it off and now everything works.

uncheck the wasapi shared + 16bit 48000Hz dont work ??

test this in iidx28.conf (only with bemanitools ?)

    wasapi=false

    asio=true

download asio4all and set your asio buffer size to 64

and your sound to 16bits 96000Hz for very low audio latency (48000Hz if you can't 96000Hz)

I'm using Spicetools, but in that I found the option to set Audio Backend to ASIO
And it works! Never thought I would see the game running with internal speaker without crackling. Thanks!

It even fixes SDVX! If you're near me right now, I don't mind buying you a beer or 2. Thanks!

i Do Realize that and in that case if it didn't work out for him he should connect external speakers

External speakers wouldn't fix a thing if it's connected through the 3.5mm jack, since it uses the same drivers as the internal speaker one. Right now the only way I can get the game to run is if I either

    1. Connect a speaker through a jack/interface other than 3.5mm jack (Home Theater/TV/Bluetooth/etc. I want to play the game as painless as possible without connecting anything else)

    2. Getting a good mixing/virtual soundcard software (Voicemeeter unfortunately isn't the one for this case)

    3. Get a driver which adds the format (Still searching for one, haven't found it)

I need help - I got the launch to black screen then crash issue.

I found out that it's due to audio settings not being set to  2 channel, 16 bit, 44100 Hz

But, I only have 2 options, and none of them is the one I need to set to.

I can use my bluetooth headset and set it to proper setting and it won't crash, but then there's huge audio lag (bluetooth being bluetooth basically).

Is there any other way to prevent crashing?

Wondering if there's any way to fix this. I tried turning off the WASAPI Shared Mode, no dice.
I tried using audio mixer (Voicemeeter), but the sound lags and crackles.

Hello, this is my first comment here, I've been trying to get the DDR A20 to run on my pc but no matter what I do, nothing seems to solve the problem

-I've followed all the instructions in the video and tutorial from the FAQ
-Checked all the log files uploaded by other users and followed all the troubleshooting provided across the 14 pages from the forum

-Tried to run the game with the bat file provided in the Tools part of the forum

    But still, nothing works.

A couple of things that I identified and that I did already:

-No matter how many times I remove the Read-Only check that is in the root folder for my DDR install, it never disappears, if I click accept, it appears again when I open the properties window for the folder.

-Tried to Re-download the game using the torrent and also Mega, but both downloads give me the same result.

    -Updated BIOS

-Set the Spice settings for the DLLs manually using the Spice Config

----The discord link does not work.

In advance, I would really appreciate any help

    log.txt

Try moving your files to D drive

For some reason (for me at least) I can only run the game if it's in D drive.

  7. Need help. I'm trying to play Beatmania IIDX 10.

I've downloaded BemaniTools (does SpiceTools work with legacy PC IIDX games?) and set up the controls from config.
    But I got an error - https://pastebin.com/Q1dfCm66

This is the config contents - https://pastebin.com/EPL6k3TP

    EDIT : Found this info

    Quote

If you don't run this on old hardware that uses an analog version of a Realtek
integrated sound chip, you have to replace RtEffect.dll with a stubbed/patched
version (RtEffect_patched.dll). Otherwise, the game might crash instantly when
    trying to start it.

Now where would I find this RtEffect_patched.dll?

Hmmmm, alright, that definitely should narrow down what's going on at least. I can confirm I'm using data from the torrent also.

Interestingly enough, I installed the same data using the same steps on a 3rd desktop just now, and it works perfectly. I'm now suspecting the issue on the 2nd desktop could be happening at the OS level since the 1st and 3rd desktops work perfectly fine.  File and folder permissions for the install folder and all child files and folders are set exactly the same as the other desktops though. One noticeable difference on the 2nd desktop from the others is that after imaging the drive with Windows 10, but before installing the DDR data, I used a powershell script for removing unneeded bloat from the OS to quicken boot time, and now I'm wondering if that got rid of a dependency that SpiceTools might use that I'm not aware of. I guess if I needed I could re-image the desktop once more and not use that script, but I'd rather narrow down exactly what dependency is actually missing that SpiceTools is looking for if I could. Of course, I could be wrong about all of this as well... hard to tell.

Can you send the debolat script? I'm wondering what are the files that are removed by the script, and reading that same script can at least point to what might be that one file that causes issues.

Ok I have fixed it, now the game works fine. But after I took a break, the game runs at 2x speed after launching it again. Why's that?

Use a frame limiter. Maybe try using RTSS.

The game itself doesn't have a framelimiter, so if your screen refresh rate is higher than 60Hz, it'll run faster. 120Hz screens will run the game at 2x speed for example.
