fpPS4 is a PS4 emulator for PC Windows x64, more specifically a “PS4 compatibility layer (emulator) on Free Pascal”. According to the developer, this project is made for fun and just in its beginning stage.

FpPS4 already runs some commercial games. The compatibility list now shows 41 games as “playable” (28 commercial games, 13 homebrew games) and 20 more that go “ingame” (which at this point means they most likely have game-breaking issues).

Playable games include Sonic Mania, Super Meat Boy, Undertale, 10 Second Ninja X, Uncanny Valley, Asdivine hearts, and Shutshimi. You’ll need a decent GPU to get playable framerates, though.

Use PS4 PKG Tool to display PS4 PKG library, manage, extract and perform various operations on PS4 PKG

Don’t get too excited though, it’s still very early for PS4 emulators at the moment, and there are very few playable titles yet.

Nonetheless, 41 games have been confirmed playable on fpPS4 so far, a pretty good number.

It is clear that at this point the emulator is well capable of running 2D games for the PS4, but still has issues with 3D functionality.

However, Dino Dini’s Kick Off Revival, a 3D game, is now categorized as “ingame”.

As you will see in the video below, it’s great from a technical achievement perspective, but not really in a playable state yet.

While the prospect is a very positive step forward for emulating video games of the past generation, it looks like it’ll be a very long way before you can play games like Ghost of Tsushima on PC

(that is, outside of a PC version that just gets announced sometime in the future).

fpPS4 is an open source PS4 emulator project written in Free Pascal for PC, compatible with Windows devices.

This software is compatibility layer for the PS4 developed by red-prig.

This application is not made for illegal activities and we have a strict policy about piracy.

All resources are obtained via reverse engineering of legally owned devices, games and information present on the internet.

The main objective of this project is to enhance the gaming experience, research, and provide education about the core concepts of device emulation.

This version is in the very early stages of development; it uses OpenGL, Vulkan and DirectX as its back-end API renderers and runs some of the PS4 games on high-end machines.

Define environment variable named Qt5_DIR pointing to the proper version of Qt.

MSVC compiler (cl.exe) is not supported.

External dependencies:

  • Vulkan SDK 1.2.198.1
  • Qt 5.15.0

Building

  • Free pascal compiler: 3.0.0 and higher, x86_64 only.
  • Lazarus: 2.0.0 and higher, x86_64 only.

Download CPU-Z : https://www.cpuid.com/softwares/cpu-z.html

All supported instruction sets will be listed on the CPU tab in the ‘Instructions’ box (AVX2 support)

On a jailbroken PS4 Kiwi.
I enjoy those .pkg install files on my PS4 and PS4 Pro already for years.

And there are multiple PS4 emulators, all off them are in α state, but bit by bit there is progress.

How is it down under ?
