[Emu] Namco System 147 / 148 / 246 / 256 Emulation on PCSX2x6 and Play!

I managed to convert and test almost every title that matters (21 so far), everything works like a charm, the quality of the emulation is crazily legit,

one thing tho is not clear, I noticed that in the .acgame files the option "jvsmode=" can be set to lightgun, fighting (for certain button layouts) or left empty...

All the Gundam arcade games made by Capcom used to require a special jamma converter for a correct buttons output, I checked in the input test menu and of course button 3 (jump) can't be bind,

button 4 is assigned by default as the 5th (which can't be used) and the 3rd assigned as the 4th, the same old story...

now, I tried to set jvsmode=fighting but doesn't work, it ends up locking all the keys (even those for the dpad as well)..

Does anyone know if there's a specific jvsmode parameter that fixes this known controls issue with the Gundam series?

Thanks in advance!

PS. These are the games that require jvsmode=fighting

Capcom Fighting Jam - Fate Unlimited Codes - Kinnikuman 1&2 - Sengoku Basara X - Soul Calibur 2&3 - YuYu Hakusho

PPS. turns out also Technic Beat has a special controls layout, button 3 in the I/O test menu can't be recognized.

Good morning,

where do I have to place the dongle files for the games? In the rom folder containing the chd and elf file?

I followed the instructions of the user andymage pinned in this topic and finally I could play many games without any problems for now.

Remember that you must to order your rom files for each one in folders and set the .acgame for each game. I set my roms in this way.

image.png.5cd246e34000b05b7cf13481bc5679f6.png

In each rom folder, normally I have these files (the .chd, the boot.elf and the sram.bin appear automatically), try to group these files in order to manage your roms (this is my rom folder of Vampire Night for example).

image.png.8c451dce6a17bb999a884ab97934a89c.png

And don't forget to paste the dongle file (that file that you must rename from .bin to .ps2) inside the memcard folder.

image.png.9e3cd533f235e444685692d9ee2c10f8.png

I was a little bit confused with this too, but I followed the pinned instructions and my roms works well after that👍.

How to fix this when increasing game resolution

Cattura_2026_06_11_12_56_16_98.png

just simply lower the resolution, it's a 20+ years old game after all... and the video output it's also natively interlaced, no progressive scan whatsoever, like many others Namco games from that same period...

8K whatever resolution you're wishing to achieve flawlessly it's not gonna work... btw, don't use open gl, just use default auto settings for the rendering if you're seeking for the best visual experience,

surely you can still tweak here and there some parameters but the team behind the project is literally yelling out loud to play it as the emulator says to do it by default... Embrace open arms those good blurry funny times when Namco did some bad decisions about video signals...  it's still good stuff!  ; )

i like how you separated each instruction and showed a pic for each section it helped me understand easier than putting it all in a big paragraph...it helped noobs like me understand each step a bit better thx

I’m very close to finishing my ACgame files for PCSX2 2x6. All I have left are Taiko 12, Taiko 12 Asian Edition, Taiko 13, and Taiko. HDD games take a lot longer to convert compared to ISO. Basically just going to copy/paste the ACgame file for Taiko 11, make a couple of changes to the subdir name path, dongle name, ID number, and the game title.

Regarding my ACgame files apparently the Taiko games need an extra line that I wasn’t aware of. I’ll probably stop making them now. Plus, there are premade ones on the PCSX2 2x6 server.

At 1st sight I don't think it is very useful why ? because everyone doesn't have the same name for CHD game, maybe same for boot and the name of the dongles :)

Hi! anyone could map two lightguns in joystick mode? the aiming is stuck to the mouse pointer even mapping Relative aiming with my guns joystick axes.

Same configuration works with regular pcsx2

Hmm nope, for the moment, according to another Dev " tovarichtch " who is in charge of Lightgun stuff told us only 1 game support 2 lightguns :  Vampire Night. It needs a few fixes yet

Thanks for sharing. The chd files are much smaller than the other ones I found, was anything removed from them?

Many thanks for those involved :) Would be cool to see links with those assembled stand alone until further progress is made to relieve confusion and frustrations. Just a friendly suggestion for those who have the individual titles working properly

Thank you. Yes I saw it, and the mediafire links seem to be the ones that were kindly shared by @compnwl

Let's take an example. The mame chd for Soulcalibur 2 is sc21-dvd0d.chd and is 2.4GB. The one shared by compnwl is game.chd is 369MB. There is a big difference in size which could be a huge win, at the same time wondering how this small size was achieved to make sure nothing is missing.

Is it normal for Soul Calibur 3 to occasionally shift the camera incorrectly, rarely, but it does happen, making the characters look farther apart even though the controls still work normally?

Is this a known issue that needs fixing, or is it just happening to me?

Hi everyone, I'm using an AimTrak for Lithgun games.
Despite numerous attempts, I can't use the trigger and movement buttons; even though they're configured in controller settings, they don't work.
The crosshair (I've added it), however, works and moves perfectly.
Any ideas? Thanks in advance.

I am a bit confused. Is there a specific tutorial for PCSX2X6? I read the pinned comment with the instructions but I don't know what are the required files and it formats or how to get them.

I read https://www.emuline.org/topic/4194-arcade-namco-system-246256super-256-futur-147148python-pcsx2x6-compatible-dumps/ but the dongle files are not in .ps2 format.

Thanks in advance.

Thanks in advance.

Using Tekken 4 as example. I have the following files

roms\NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP\NM00004 TEF3, Ver.D a025671124888a.ps2 (I got it from the pinned post link for the actual dongles, clicked NM00004 Tekken 4, downloaded NM00004 TEF3, Ver.D a025671124888a.bin.gz, extracted the file NM00004 TEF3, Ver.D a025671124888a.bin, renamed it to NM00004 TEF3, Ver.D a025671124888a.ps2. Yes you must rename it. If you don't it will not just work.)
roms\NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP\boot.elf (I got it from the pinned post link DONGLE_FILES.7z, went inside TEF3, Ver.D since the folder matched the names above and copied just the boot.elf file, none of the other files)

roms\NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP\tef1dvd0.chd (to get it I googled for: mdk.cab tekken 4 chd)

And the following tekken4.acgame to launch the game

[game]
name=Tekken 4 JAP
gameid=NM00004
[data]
subdir=roms/NM00004 Tekken 4 JAP
elf=boot.elf
dongle=NM00004 TEF3, Ver.D a025671124888a.ps2
card=
mediasrc=tef1dvd0.chd
media=DVD

Its easier to pick the Tekken Pack i provided in the topic, since it have all tekkens and with everything unlocked, while its way smaller than MAME version.

Yes agreed. Just explaining to him how to do it since it was his question. How come your chds are way smaller than the mame ones?

I converted your chd and mame for soulcalibur 2 to isos, extracted all files and compared the files and they are identical. Yet the mame chd is 2.35GB and yours is only 361MB. Makes me wonder if all mame chds waste space like this

I don't worry, I made a binary file comparison and yes they are 100% identical. Just surprised on why the mame chds are so much bigger.

No magic here, just using this command:

chdman createdvd -i game.iso -o game.chd -hs 2048

But using this dumps instead of MAME ones. Also the chdman command line above its only for DVDs, it change for HDDs/CDs but not all games give a good size reduction like that.

The worst part was finding a good combination of game files.

Nice. Great finding, very nice to see those awesome games not taking much disk space. I can put them on my portable machine now. And I verified with a bin diff that the files are identical to the mame dump for soulcalibur 2 for example. The only thing I was wondering was if some audio tracks or video tracks were missing. Would still like to understand what happened.
