Each time I click on settings in Jconfig for Block King Shooter Ball, it freezes for a second and then closes. Can someone help?
It will probably be a case of trying a different dump, it used to work for me but I had to reformat my PC and I couldn't get it working again despite having everything except the dump the same as it was, of course it is a process of elimination because it could just as easily be a windows update or something stopping it from working but I would start with the dump itself, also make sure direct play is enabled in your windows additional components section in add remove programs, windows components.

Excellent stuff, looks like we will be seeing it working any day now.

but any way to remove on upper part of the screen the X marks of p1+p2+IO in the middle
that shouldn’t appear during gameplay?
thanks
That should disappear when the io board has been emulated.

This game might be a bit of a curiosity to play once or twice but I cannot see it having much replay value.

The dongles have been dumped,I have a couple of those and yes he's using linux but the emulator is called "Play" it's a ps2 emulator.
So basically he extracted the dongles files with(I believe)pcsx2 because those are very similiar to a ps2 memory card and with pcsx2 you can convert those files to a folder.
Inside these folders there is a ELF file(in the case of RIDGE RACER is called "START")but in order to actually boot the game you need the bios of the system which, again,it has been dumped and the iso of the game.(the iso generally contains only xxxx.bin files and they contain models, texture etc...everything that the game has but not an executable)
We basically have everything but since the system reads the disc and launches it with the ELF file from the dongle I don't know how you could start the game from only using the ELF.
I am not 100% sure how you would start it from an elf file unless that is what the emulator specifically does, you must have to load the elf file by opening it with the tool you mentioned above, which by the look of things has to be compiled in order to work but I can't remember how to compile binaries because it is so long since I have done it, maybe there are binaries available.

Did someone try to replicate what he did?
It seems he loaded the elf files from the dongles.
I don't think many people will actually have the dongles, have they been dumped, do you know? At a guess I would say it was a Linux VM they were running on with the dump on the vm and the dongle mounted but I am speculating heavily there.

Pretty impressive that anybody is actually taking the time and making the effort to get these games to a working state in order to preserve them for future generations and for us to play.

Does RPCS3 need a monster CPU and GPU to run at a decent level of performance or is it okay on hardware less than the latest and greatest?

At the moment I use the Arcade 64 derivative of Mame because I can't be bothered with all the gambling type machine emulation, however what would be the best version of Mame to use purely in terms of performance?

you mean 2012?
because 2014 according to people doesn’t work
It probably was the 2012 version if that is the one that works with spice tools, I didn't actually realize this was a newer dump.

It used to run great with the older versions of spice tools, does anyone have the old version at all? I had this game running about a year ago or perhaps slightly more, one of my hard drive's had a problem and I lost it because I didn't mirror the drives.

There is actually an standalone emulator made for killer Instinct 1 & 2 that runs pretty well, there is also another one for Primal Rage2 to run properly, I can't remember the names of them now but a google search should find them I would think.

They do indeed 246 runs them well.

IDA 1.50 Debug version runs for me at full speed on an old 4gb Quadro k4200 so it can't be too taxing, they are not even gaming drivers, in gaming terms one step up from onboard graphics.

@5kBoxer maybe you need a different exe or something like that, the dump itself should be ok, or try running it in compatibility mode for windows 8, I had to kind of mess around with mine to get it running but the simultaneous 2 player exe from the dumps page on this forum got it working eventually.

i have a issue with Mario kart
I play the game in two pc via LAN for the next 15/20 minutes work fine but suddenly after that time both game start to run slow.. i notice if i do click on the game run normally so is like protector screen come up but i disable everything and chose the máximum power in energy option.
i have a dell optiplex 750 Maybe) for player one & a HP elite 8200 for player two both pc have a 6gb ram and 750 Nvidia card
some help ? thank you !!
Probably power saving settings, better to make a custom plan with screen saver disabled etc and adjust your settings in the bios of your machines as well. the Processors work better for this type of thing with all power saving disabled in bios to stop the processor speeds working based on the load on them at the time, a 3ghz processor can go down to for example 1ghz to save power, switch all of it off.

I know that these updates for IDA have a parent child relationship, 1.30 presumably being the parent and 1.50 presumably being the child, what I don't understand is how the game can be updated if hyper V or any other VM is saying that the 1.50 vhd is corrupted when this relationship is specified, I am not asking for a tutorial just whether anyone has managed to mount the 1.50 update or not, not how to do it, I am pretty sure I can work that out, just whether it is possible with these files or not?

You can apply the BGFX chain to any recent MAME versions just the same way as CRTGeomDeluxe. The best way (I think) would be to edit your ini files to enable the BGFX video mode and to select the ArcCabView chain you want to use.
About the backend, you can put the one you want, btw d3d11 is slow, with d3d9 the scanline effect is broken (even with CRT-Geom and CRTGeom-Deluxe). So I think glsl is a good option (at least up to 0.242, because I didn't test the later builds)
About the resolution, these effects are made for high resolution screens: UHD/4K would be perfect, FullHD is ok, 720p/768p will probably be too short to get a good result...
I hope it helps
just edit all you ini files to enable the "filter" (bilinear filtering)
# # OSD ACCELERATED VIDEO OPTIONS # filter 1
And it should work. it is better to disable this filter when using a CRT shader but without these shader I do agree: it looks better with
Thanks very much, this clears things up for me very well. 😁

Awesome scanline effects, am I better using the internal menu in the command line style Mame to apply these or will Arcade UI just work the same using the BGFX settings as video mode and CRT geom deluxe as the chains setting with GLSL as the backend or should the backend be something else to have it look the same as in your screen shots, also what resolution are they displayed at? Sorry for the longish question and TIA.

Works fantastic for me with dome fix, well 97% out of 100 at least with mouse due to crosshair's

@Serpent It's looking good, thanks for showing that it works and in practice as well as theoretically.

What else do I need to get one of these guns to work appart from obviously the USB version of the gun if I only have an LCD monitor eg sensor bars etc or is it a no go?

If it is Sanwa parts you are using it should make a good arcade stick, I really rate them personally and they will be better than any of the ready made ones, I would be tempted to go for a wooden case though, rather than plastic or make your own with plywood or mdf, if you have the tools anyway, give it a sand and spray with automotive paint, the extra weight will really add to the feeling of it and it won't slide around as much, it should not even cost more.

For $70 it is a no brainer. Risk free purchase if you know that it is working okay, and to upgrade your CPU, easy a used Intel Core i7-3770K from Ebay for $40 or $50 at most.

So good to have Emuline back, you don't know what you have until it is gone, it is already the best emulation site out there, Ok you can get the games from other places but if you want to have them work as well, this is the site for you.
