Description

Abathor is a retro arcade game for up to 4 simultaneous players. It has an obviously classic part as a tribute for our admiration to the arcade games of the 80's and 90's, but that's only appearance, we are actually designing a quite bizarre cooperation and competition mechanic. While perfectly playable on 1P, the experience is optimal with multiple players. Throughout their journey through Atlantis, players will encounter an insane variety of scenarios, enemies, challenges, traps, treasures, chests, incredible deaths and rewards.

But this is not a classic game. Abathor encourages cooperation and at the same time competition at the highest epic levels. On the one hand, all players share lives in a common pool, there are 5 lives for all players, so that they only lose a life when all players are defeated in the same phase. If at least one of the players passes the phase, the life is not lost and all players appear in the next phase. If they all die, then a common life is lost. This pool of lives is represented by a bust of Primeval Poseidon. Each time all players die in a phase, a part of the piece will explode. When its limbs, weapons and head explode, the players will have lost the game (and will have to repeat the area). They must cooperate as much as possible to avoid losing these common lives.
