[Arcade PC] The Act (Interactive Movie Arcade) (Linux Based)

This is a previously lost Linux based FMV arcade game similar to Dragons Lair that was never fully released.

The company behind it had plans to fully release it but they went under and the game was only ported to iOS before being taken down from the App Store.

The game works in TeknoParrot (Patreon-only).

The executable is decaf_Linux, it can be found by going into the Bin folder inside the decaf folder.

The game doesn't seem to require a dongle or IO board as you can use the keyboard/mouse to control it. However, the game is unable to boot in a VM.

 

The ISO for the recovery disc was recently found by NUTDOG and Ziggy on the Hidden Palace discord and you can download it here:

but isn't it an iPad game. yeah it was made to be an arcade game invented by Omar Khudari and Dan Aykroyd 

The Act was never meant to be an iPad game. If things had gone as planned, arcades would be a profitable market and The Act would be that market's most popular game. As fate had it, arcades fell apart and so did The Act

This game might be a bit of a curiosity to play once or twice but I cannot see it having much replay value.

I have tried extracting the above iso link and selecting the decaf_Linux file but get black screen with error and quits to the Launchbox UI. Is there another dump of game please? Thank you.

I get no sound and can't insert coin

For Sound u have to go into the test menu and adjust it LOL u use the left and right to navigate thought the test menu and start to select and when u exit and restart sound will be restored.

TP_Settings for controller u can uncheck the window works in full screen mode.

Hi all, my game is still crashing back to TP UI. I have extracted the iso and dist.tar.gz, which gives you disc.tar and then extracted this folder, which gives you the dist folder. I have pointed to the decaf_Linux file.

 

What am i doing wrong please guys. I have attached screenshots.

 

Latest drivers, Nvidia RTX2060, 16g of ram and i5 6600k

I have the same problem, patreon.

I assume we both got version .40 of ElfLdr2

And according to Reaver of TP version .41 should work with The act.

But it got not pushed with the latest TP update 1.0.0.885

Check about TP versions info at top left three stripes menu.

"Sorry updater was confused, try updating now."

Now it pushes .41 and The act works. 👍

No need for all the folders, only dist folder afaik

Which one extracts from the dist.tar.gz, twice !

[THE RETURN OF HBP]

I have been wanting to try this game for years now. I love Dragon's Lair and these types of games. Always good to see a very rare game like this get dumped and preserved. The controls are really interesting and I love the animation. Everyone should give this one a try.
