HI Everyone, This is an updated thread of the same topic found here. We weren't able to contact the OP so we just decided to make one that we can maintain/update! Reasons for the creation of this thread: The original thread provides a link to DDR Ace (DDR A) which is data dump 20190422. Technically, that is not DDR A20 although it contains some A20 data already pre-loaded. We are unable to contact the OP of the original/old thread in order to ask him/her to update the link to the data dump. A long way has gone in terms of methods/procedures for setting up the game, DDR A20. Of course we give due credit to the people behind the original thread because they exerted efforts doing trial-and-error to make things work! However at this point, the procedures are already well-established and newcomers are having difficulties in looking for the proper procedures/steps/fixes, since the original thread had bits and pieces of information all over the place (which again, is because at that point, people were still doing trial-and-error). At this point we can already reorganize the information in a way that can easily be found/read, hence, the creation of this thread. NEW!!! This thread is now updated to support both DDR A20 and DDR A20 PLUS! Thanks Admins! Topic for old release here. Images credits to Nicolas of Zenius-i-vanisher (thread here) Mirror dumps: Dance Dance Revolution A20/+ ============================================================================================== Hello, In a world where all of this hard work is purely voluntary (i.e. "I have a life, I have a family, I have a job too"), only kind words are what one would consider "fruits of labor" and hearing/reading them feels so rewarding. Butterfly (our fork) has gone a long way. What initially started out as an individual project (a.k.a. "topet's butterfly"), eventually became a small group's project. On that note, this small group of individuals do not look at, nor weigh, their contributions in the quantitative sense. The fact of the matter is, there is mutual dependency in the contributions that went into (our fork of) butterfly in its current state, such that a missing piece/contribution by any single one in this group couldn't have made butterfly "whole" all by himself. In this sense, our contributions are weighted qualitatively and hence, as I personally see it, all are equal and therefore all individuals in this small group have equal stake for decisions involving this fork of butterfly. These are the people who have helped make butterfly what it is today: @tw3nz0r @bman @Towlesy27 @Sirk @One Eternal Ash @kanor And of course, @skogaby who is the original author of butterfly. I've only had a chance to talk to him a few times and learn a thing or two. But that simple act is what enabled and fueled me to embark on this journey. This decision to (hopefully, momentarily) stop openly supporting the use of butterfly with DDR Arcade (Ripped) Data is a very painful decision, at least for me personally, because - and again, this is in no way undermining the group that made it for what it is today - the fact remains that it started as an individual person's project. As such I would almost say that this is my "baby" project. And as "small" of a project as it may be in the eyes of the more technically inclined, I unfortunately was "technically handicapped" throughout this entire journey, so whatever "little achievement" you can see (from the eyes of a technical person) is actually a milestone and a source of pride for me. I am not about to be hypocritical about all of this because at the end of the day we know what "THIS" is. Do know that I personally took it with a heavy heart to make this decision. But I think, for the preservation of the greater good who will and should benefit in the long run, I believe that this decision has to be made. Out of my love for the work that has been done, and out of consideration for the many others who try their best to help with the sustainability of making this game available, I am going to release a "final goodbye" public build (hopefully, goodbye only for now). This build is enough to last you up to any 2020-dated package, and will cease to fully function when the 2021-dated packages are leaked to the public (or when you use our butterfly fork on any 2021-dated builds). In the meantime, you may use other 3rd-party online servers which provide the essentials for enjoying the game (score saving/tracking, score rivalry, force-unlocking of all songs, etc.). It is unfortunate that we had to (again, hopefully momentarily) stop making public builds since our fork of butterfly, although primarily envisioned for offline use, offers a very rich level of support and experience for DDR that goes the extra mile, in fact way beyond the essentials. Nonetheless, I have huge respect for all the maintainers/owners of the 3rd-party online servers. Putting up a server to function online where there a lot of users is in fact a stressful thing to do (on top of the fact this is purely voluntary plus volunteering material and non-material resources to maintain it). I am amazed at not only your work, but also your dedication for doing this. I am a patron of some of these 3rd-party servers too. I personally hope that things will eventually turn out for the better because I am still very excited in helping others as you have seen me do. Let us hope for the best and make this a learning lesson as we move forward.

Back in Page 40 there was a separate discussion but it involved showing hex edits so you may want to use it as a guide. Here. Or if you want a guide to hex editing in general, there is a guide. Here. And then use the spreadsheet I posted earlier as basis since it already lists down the "addresses" that you need to search for. If you don't want to learn how to hex edit, the latest version of Spicetools already includes a new tab called "Patches." Basically they already have the "hex edits" built-in so all you have to do is to check the appropriate boxes. Note that they published this on October 13, 2020 and is compatible only with the latest data dump (the "clean" 2020-02-03). So if you use anything older, the list of "Patches" won't show up. Spice Tools has a thread here in Emuline, just do a search. Latest SpiceTools, October 13, 2020. New feature, "Patches" tab. Shown here is the Spice Configuration (spicecfg.exe) and using the latest data dump (2020-02-03): Latest SpiceTools, October 13, 2020. New feature, "Patches" tab. Shown here is the Spice Configuration (spicecfg.exe) and using the previous data dump (2019-09-03). Notice that the checkboxes are not available. -

Yes, it means you are not using the latest, "clean" 20200203 data dump. Please refer to the link provided by @ofmic3andm3n to download a fresh copy. Okay so...in relation to the latest version of Spicetools that has the "Patch" feature, take note that this is a totally new feature that got included only in the October 13, 2020 release of Spicetools. That said, it's therefore obvious why all previous posts are talking about a totally different procedure. @tw3nz0r and I already gave you the answers directly: you need to go into the butterfly's database to change the settings you mentioned. As to "how" exactly, you just need to read the instructions written within this thread (HINT: go to Page 11). -

I created DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) to make it easier for first-timers/newbies to configure and start the game. Ideally you should be using it each and every time. However because it was made with automation in mind, it is not limited to newbies. It's also for experienced users who want everything "one-click." I personally use DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) when launching my game. Usage of DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) takes time only during the initial setup, or when you are planning to change your setup. After the initial configuration you may start DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) via an "Express" or "Quickie" feature, where it will start the game using "remembered settings" that you initially configured the first time you ran DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.). It (Express/Quickie Mode) will continue running the same configuration (that you have manually set up initially) in each and every start of the game, until such time that you start DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) with the "Full Session" Mode again to reconfigure. Aside from automation, DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) is designed with CLAYGO in mind (Clean-As-You-Go)...meaning, it will "generate" the file/s you need on a per-need basis so you won't necessarily see all the files generated. Also after running DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) it performs a cleanup of files not needed (hence CLAYGO). However, the game launcher (launcher.exe of Bemanitools, or spice.exe of Spicetools) may remain after a game session (it can't be cleaned up while you're playing, obviously) so you can also use that to manually launch the game if you wish, however it also means you must not forget to manually launch butterfly too. And also doing it manually means taht whatever launch settings you have configured via DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) won't be "remembered" and "applied" when you run spice.exe or launch.exe or butterfly.exe manually (again, obviously). Also future versions of my work may need to leverage/capitalize on the automation capabilities of DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) so users might end up being required to use it regardless of technical aptitude (again, for some future features I have in mind). Issues with SD Mode and CRT display: I believe this usually happens when you are playing the game on Gold Cab Mode. The official Gold Machine/Cab is crated using a full HD screen so there really isn't an SD mode for it. So if you launch the game by setting it to SD Mode, and you are playing on Gold Cab, then you will see that the resolution or screen area displayed is weird. Or...you may have been using DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) and probably selected Gold Cab...and then eventually launched the game manually thinking you are on Blue Cab, hence the "issue." Best to just consistently use DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) until you are more familiar. Then again (and again) I have not updated my add-ons/tools for 20200203 use yet, so as mentioned in my previous comment: use at your own risk. PASELI is Japan's "virtual money" used in playing at arcades and basically grants "Premium Play." Other countries/regions that don't support PASELI can also acces Premium Play but by using physical coins/credits. So it's really a question of Free Play or Event vs. the regular credit game mode. Within the regular credit game mode, there's "Normal" and "Premium" Modes of Play. Usage of Premium is accessed via extra credits via coins/swipe/PASELI. So to answer your question you are missing out some extra Speed Modifier increments (only Premium Play Mode allows for x0.25 speed increments) as well as access to the Extra Stage (assuming you get to "earn" the 9 "stars" or "orbs" during the first 3 stages). As I mentioned in my previous response, all my add-ons are not yet properly updated to support 2020-02-03 dump so I will not provide further answers. Whether they are working are officially considered as coincidental. Instructions on how to set the options directly within butterfly are within this thread (you have to search). Same as with the latest version of Spicetools (you have to search). Hence, do look around when you get the chance. "Give a man fish, and you have fed him for a day. Teach a man how to fish, and you have fed him for a lifetime. Teach a man how to sell fish, and he eats steak!" Having said that, this is the end of the line for my response. This is not paid support, so please don't ask me to provide you with screenshots, etc. unless you have actually shown that you have tried to research/exert effort on your end. Quite honestly all your questions have already been answered somewhere within these 40+ pages (yes I literally read all of these pages that's why I got to produce all the stuff you saw. ). -

Hello @DDRMarvel, TL,DR: my add-ons are not yet updated for use with the "clean" 20200203 data dump. Use at your own risk. Response in detail: Last I updated DDR A.S.S. it had the capability to forcefully unlock the 11 Golden League songs so that they are playable even when you are using Blue Cab Mode, as well as Mythomane and Digital Luv. In any case, there are no new songs added between the last data dump of 20190903 and the clean 20200203 if you've already been using my add-ons. Are there missing songs that you noticed? The file ddrio.dll is needed only if you're using Bemanitools and only when running config.exe (the configuration stage of the setup wizard). Then again, if you've been using DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) on the "clean" 20200203 data, do know that I haven't updated DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) yet. e-Amusement settings (dark, fast/slow, dancing characters, arrow type, etc.): Back then, people had to resort to hex edits because butterfly didn't exist yet (butterfly only went love during the 20190422 data, which is "late DDR Ace" timeframe). When butterfly went live (butterfly was made when the latest data dump was "late-DDR Ace" which was 20190422), it already has a built-in feature for changing the settings you are looking for. The said settings are configurable from within butterfly's database and it has been the case ever since. Also, butterfly is smart enough to "remember" your settings so it will apply the same settings until you change them again. Aside from this being already built-in with butterfly there were other tools that were also made such as ddrhax and the addition of the said function in the latest version of Spicetools as @tw3nz0r has pointed out As this is already built-in with butterfly, plus other 3rd-party tools already being available, plus the option to manually hex edit, it's already too redundant at this point to come up with yet another method. The other functionality you mentioned (ability to switch between HD and SD, ability to choose between Blue/Gold Cab) are courtesy of DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) which I haven't updated yet to fully function with the "clean" 20200203 data dump. Also to be clear: DDR S.L.U.T. [Standardized Local Update Tool] is the old "Update Pack" which is basically a folder containing updated files that you copy-paste over to your current data, while DDR P.U.S.S.(I.E.) [Programmed User-Selectable Setup (Improved Execution)] is the actual automation/executable you are referring to. -

Hi, So to clarify, the 20190422 data dump is actually DDR Ace (DDR A) and not A20. Unfortunately we didn't start this thread so we can't modify the link posted in the very first page. The latest DDR A20 is 20200203. There's a torrent link (just read probably starting Page 40 of this thread). I likewise provided a video that you can simply follow, for the "installation" part (technically no installation is needed, but okay let's just call it that way). Start from Page 40. -

Ah, that makes sense now. Any "v1" file is intended for "Gold Cab." So if only these are the errant files, then it does make sense now why the issue occurs only in "Gold Cab" mode. Make sure you downloaded my copy of files that have a "Date added" of today (10/12/2020). The previous one that's in my MEGA are for the 20190903 (they're working but the "Thank You For Playing" is slanted/diagonal and not horizontal as it should be as of 20200203). -

Ah there you go. It is confirmed then (thanks!) that the MEGA version has some corrupted files (probably a bad/interrupted upload on the part of the uploader). And yes, the issue won't appear when you're on Blue Cab for the same reason you mentioned. -

@g3nsvrv UPDATE: I realized I haven't uploaded my 20200203 versions yet (as you can see in the timestamps of the files). The ones currently in my MEGA are working, however they're the 20190903 versions (the "Thank You For Playing" will show up as slanted/diagonal and not horizontal - this is the easy indicator to know which version you have/are using). Download again and test. You should see that the "Date added" should be 10/12/2020 (today). -

Ah I know what your problem is. I would assume you didn't get your "clean" 20200203 copy via the torrent link. Instead, you used the MEGA download, am I right? The MEGA download seems to have a couple of corrupted files vs. the torrent. We have identified the files (so you won't have to download the entire thing again). See the files in this link (this is the update for the DDR A20 Update Pack, now called DDR S.L.U.T., that I am currently working on so these are all fresh 20200203 files): here Check your copy of these files; I would assume they are zero-byte files right now (or if not zero-byte, smaller than what they should be): Replace them with clean copies from the link I provided (just search and download the appropriate ones). -

Thanks for the suggestion but I prefer locally-stored data and uploading it on a per-need basis. I'm also very well-versed with MS Excel as I use it mainly for work. Hence, I'd like to keep it that way. However, anyone is welcome to take that data and upload/migrate it to Google Docs/Sheets/whatever tools they like. Thanks for letting us know about that link that's no longer working. I am sharing my copy instead: DDR A20 Gold Background for Music Selection -

You should have joined the Discord Group that was mentioned some pages ago because I already compiled all hex edits into a Spreadsheet (for all iterations of the data dump, since 20190422). If you're already there, check the #help channel and look at the pinned messages; the spreadsheet is there. The value of 69 is the "hex" value; the equivalent decimal is 105 (this is 105 ms). When setting it to "Gold Cab Mode" I have found that a value of 90 ms is (hex value of 5a) is spot-on. This has already been explained in detail by @kanor on Page 16. What backgrounds do you find missing? The video background animation during the Music Selection? If so, make sure to re-register the two (2) DLLs found in the "com" folder. Make sure to run CMD as Administrator when registering them otherwise the registration won't "stick" (CMD will say that the registration was successful but it won't persist). EDIT: sorry I pressed Enter. Also don't forget to copy the "gold-bg" video files from your previous data dump and paste it onto the same location in the 20200203 dump. Don't worry; if you dowloaded it via the torrent it's clean. The reason why it doesn't have those "gold-bg" videos is because the data was extracted from a DDR "blue/white" cab (credit to @tw3nz0r for this bit of knowledge/insight). -
