I would just unplug everything, and start with only the keyboard connected. Try changing input with only the keyboard, and see if it does multiple inputs.  If it does there is probably something wrong with the keyboard, and you should try a new one. Then plug in one of your joysticks, and test again. Do this one at a time until you can narrow down which device is causing the issue. 

Are your joysticks true usb joysticks, or are they hooked up to a keyboard encoder?

As for the set it's up to you. I use a split set but I have all versions of all games.

split:
A split set is one where the parent set contains all of the normal data it should, and the clone sets contain only what has changed as compared to the parent set.
This saves some space, but isn’t quite as efficient as a merged set.
The clone sets can’t operate without their parent set.
Remark: The parent and clones in split sets DO NOT include BIOS or DEVICE files - they are separate files within the set (An example would be 100lions (No BIOS in the parent) and Galaga (No device file in the parent) - This is per MAME design

merged:
A merged set takes the parent set and one or more clone sets and puts them all inside the parent set’s storage.
To use the existing Pac-Man example, combining the Puckman, Midway Pac-Man (USA) sets, along with various bootleg versions– and combining it all into PUCKMAN.ZIP, would be making a merged set.
Remark: The parent games in a merged set DO NOT include BIOS or DEVICE files - they are separate files within the set (An example would be 100lions (No BIOS in the parent) and Galaga (No device file in the parent) - This is per MAME design

non-merged:
A non-merged set is one that contains absolutely everything necessary for a given game to run in one ZIP file.
Remark: Even though Non-Merged games -normally- DO NOT include BIOS or DEVICE files within the game, in the case of the PD non-merged set we DO include these within the game, which ensures that every single game can be copied and ran as individual game without the need of any extra files.
This makes a set like this ideal for splitting up on a per-game-basis. The non-merged set is ideal for those people that work on Arcade PCBs as ALL roms/devices/bios files are contained within the game. This set is also great for those that for instance create their own arcade cabinets and want to copy only very specific games to their PC/Rapsberry/Other, the game.zip file contain all the files needed, no more searching for the dependent parent files, BIOS files, device files - just copy galaga.zip and you are set.
Pick individual games from this set if you are not intending to download a complete ROM set.

I understand that model2 emulator has been dead for a while... I was just checking if the mame fork was still considered early beta, or if it has already passed model 2 emulator. 

Does Mame work better than that Sega model 2 emulator? 

@nosoucy62 if it is the same issue i was having try this. click on config, then gpu tab, and check write color buffers in additional settings.

is Taiko No Tatsujin supposed to be working? It just closes after loading. i have tried both main branch and the fighter/gun branch.

Yeah these are the only 2 games that work flawless for me. The other games I can't start. I can put in coins but not start them

Did you press them at the same time?

For maximum tune 2 did you copy all 3 files from the a folder?

Also make sure you are using a desktop below 4092. I had the black screen at one point but it is working now.

You might have to keep the files in a folder... i have them there too, but i haven't tried removing the a folder.

Games don't have to be in the same folder as the emulator. You just need to make sure the dashboard is in partition 2 in the emu emudisk folders and the bios files are in the chihiro folder

So to recap, 

put the files in the A folder into the root folder next to boot.id and data folder

use a desktop that is lower than 4092, 4817 works good and put it in your Release-W7-Yaca\EmuDisk\Partition2 folder

when game starts press F1+F2, you might be able to just press F1

Go to the game's sub test menu and turn off drive motor, and card reader if you are not going to use the card system. 

F1 - test

F2 - service

you might have to wait on black screen for a little bit. it takes a short while to load.

are you able to just take ssf2 and ninja gaiden and put them in with an existing install, or did you have to hack the exe and other files to get them to work? I have an existing install that i already limited to the fx2 only tables.

I got this. I saw a github post that dashboards greater than 4920 are not supported, so i found an older one. but then i got this.

dont know... same thing happens to me with the release version. The W7 version gives me a dashboard error. I found a working dashboard, but then it gave a cant read the disk error in the dashboard... not an emulator error. Outrun was giving me a drive board not connected error.
