🎯 Kitchen Shooter (PICO-8) – Full Playthrough | Indie Rail Shooter Game

Kitchen Shooter is a quirky on-rails shooter made in PICO-8 for the Grill Game Jam 2023. Instead of blasting aliens or robots, you’re stuck with a much nastier problem: cockroaches invading your kitchen. With a hygiene inspector on the way, you’ve only got five minutes to clean house—or risk your restaurant going down in flames.

The game uses simple but satisfying mechanics. You control everything with your mouse—aim and shoot with the left button, reload with the right. For this playthrough, I went one step further and used my RS3 Reaper lightguns, which makes it feel just like a classic arcade rail shooter experience.

The soundtrack is absolutely a delight. If you’ve got a subwoofer, be sure to turn it on—this tune has a beat that punches right through and makes the action even more fun.

Originally released in 2023, the game has since been updated to version 1.1 and is available across multiple platforms, including Windows, macOS, Linux, Android, and browser-based HTML5. It’s lightweight, accessible, and full of charm, making it a fun pick-up-and-play shooter that anyone can dive into.

Kitchen Shooter was developed by PBeS Studio, and it wouldn’t look nearly as good without the stunning pixel art of Emiliane Bernuzzi. Her playful, colorful style gives the game its charm and makes exterminating pests feel more fun than gross.
