⭐ Pyramid Patrol (LaserActive Mega-LD, 1993) – FMV Rail Shooter Longplay

Pyramid Patrol is a 1993 Mega-LD FMV rail shooter for the Pioneer LaserActive with the Sega PAC module. It was developed by High-Tech Lab Japan, published by Taito via Pioneer, and released on August 20, 1993 (JP) and December 23, 1993 (US).

Set in 2035, the game follows your spacecraft as it navigates a Martian pyramid built by the lost civilization of Mu. Gameplay unfolds in first-person cockpit view, with the surroundings presented via full-screen LaserDisc video and a Genesis-style overlay for targeting and UI.

You move crosshairs on a fixed rail while firing at enemies. The A button unleashes a weak, continuous stream of bullets; holding B charges a stronger shot (though it's slow to release). Bosses, unlike regular enemies, are embedded into the FMV footage itself—not overlayed—creating seamless transitions between gameplay and narrative.

The visuals are flashy, but gameplay is shallow and brief. Critics liken it to an arcade-style demo you might play while waiting—for example, at a pizzeria—before diving into dinner. While it's seen as the strongest of the three Sega PAC launch titles, its charm lies mostly in its polished laserdisc presentation, not its mechanics.
