Yes, from my experience, upscaling causes this problem...

I created a sample video with Time Traveler to better explain the problem of 720x480 resolution videos.
Initially I start the game in standard way through the Singe menu, then I open the game video with VLC and switching from one window to another I show how the video version started with Singe is slightly stretched, in the particular case the sphere where is enclosed the girl appears slightly oval compared to the one shown by VLC which is round, while the black borders in Singe are narrower than the full screen video in VLC.
These games should have, like most arcades, a 4: 3 aspect ratio.

Hi i have a question does daphne singe 2 need a powerful pc to run game smoothly cuz me it give me trouble to run smoothly ,i can play daphne and original daphne singe game flawless on my surface pro 3 connected to tv via hdmi (lg tv sound) but with singe 2 the video is slow and the sound choppy since i have realteck sound i change to  hd audio sound driver  like it said on the forum but same problem its strange when i test cliffhanger  once  it was ok but when i test another game and on the problem happen, i wonder if it has to do with codec or something ,i could play the video file alone with no problem,do you have an idea what might be the problem.

A said Maabus, sound driver is causing slopiness (some sound drivers, not all of them).

Generally (at least it is the case for Time Gal) this 720*480 resolution is "fake". I mean the poixels are not square but there's a 0.89 for 1 horizontally which results in a 640+480.

 

By the way if some people are curious about the difference between Time Gal old and remaster i posted a small comparison video (sizes are exact).

Don't think it's really possible. 

A lot of moves would be removed from the video. The first example that come to mind is when you jump on the head of the dino (level 1). By cropping to 1920, the head totally disappear.

Sheer curiosity. Do you have the same result if you launch the game with the 32 bit version (Singe32) ?

Ok karis here the result the 32 bit version of singe 2  didnt change nothing but the 480p pack you upload everything run smooth like butter so good news do you plan to upload the 480p version of mononoke and sucker punch (incredible title) and the futur upcoming title in 480p it will be very appreciated,so karis what your opinion why the other high quality version didnt run well on my surface pro 3,is it my surface wasnt powerful or the encoding ,codec etc have to do something, again thanks karis for the contribution and the effort you put to make every people enjoy.

Bur you know a lot of great classics are 4/3. How do you play them ? With overlay ?

forgive m,e but on a full hd or 4k screen it is anacronistic to play a 4/3 game i love instead yours masterpieces as CLIFFHANGER and  FIRE AND ICE

No problem, but there are many games which don't let you many choices. 

For example iof you want to play Galaga, there's no 16/9.

That said i mùade something special for you (and people allergic to 4/3), it's a kind of compromise with a bezel.

In order to explain better why i don't like "fake" 16/9 here is an example:

I really took random images, but it could be worse (as i said it could remove a head or an important part of the action).

By cropping you've got 16/9 right, but also remove parts drawn by the artist and this is something i don't like. Worse: sometimes you remove the exact reason why you ask the player to go "up" (because the branch is not there anymore).

For me the 16/9 version of DL is an heresy because it was never drawn this way.

 

So, i like 16/9 and use it when i can (Mononoke for example was made this way and i reversed Cliff from 4/3 to 16/9 because the original movie was 16/9), but some games are old (most of them actually) and where not made in 16/9. You can't  play NES or Genesis in 16/9.

That's why i propose you this bezel solution, check the first post. Hope you like it.

you are amazing and kind with your work but i prefer to hope for a future 16/9 version of all all games.including TIME GAL

Hi! I'm modifing Crime Patrol to prepare it as Argon will need to add rawinput, I already done for Action Max, that although it didn't support 2 simultaeous players, the code was smaller and easier to me for testing.

I want to use this input in controls.cfg:

so the question is, how can I add SWITCH_BUTTON4 and link to INPUT_ACTION_4?

Yes you can add a SWITCH_BUTTON4 of course, but it's just a value there. It doesn't mean the program will know what to do with it.

Hey karis the bezel version of dragon lair and time gal are awesome,any plan for the 4:3 version i have rocketlauncher(and bezel pack for daphne ,singe,amercian lasergames etc.) and if i activate bezel for singe 2 game it will show but after a few sec it will give error ,maybe thats because rocketlauncher dont have the singe 2 module(its a new program) etc(they have daphne  and singe and american lasergames module not singe 2) ,so any plan for 4:3 bezel,by the way great work as usual.

Several users had this problem and solved it by changing the sound driver (Realtek).
