Okay. 6 weeks of processing and new version being uploaded now. Will update first post when uploaded. I redid the 60fps versions on highest quality interpolation settings in ffmpeg. Enjoy!

excuse me..when a perfect hd 16/9 version of TIME GAL?

You know, there is no magic: There is only one source of TG existing and it's a poor 720*480 version. Out of this version i made the 1440 * 1080 HD and if you really want a 16/9, you can convert this source to your needs to reach 1920.

But this change has a cost: Either you stretch it and the image will be 33% larger (in other terms, the Gal will be fatter), or you add 33% everywhere (1920*1440) and then cut the up and lo parts by 180 pixel (so in the end you lose 33% of the image vertically).

Rex it has been stated many times that Time Gal wont work in 16/9. It will cut off a big part of the video. Many of the moves require doing moves that would be cut off.

You should ask for Titan A.E in Karis' thread for Titan A.E as he is the one that created it. I think the original movie had the borders, so the video would probably be stretched to get rid of them.

Changing the resolution (downgrade) won't change anything it's about the ASPECT RATIO. That means the relation between horizontal and vertical resolution.

4/3 is a 1.33 ratio, TG was drawn this way

16/9 is 1.77.

So the only way to obtain a bigger ratio (that means more horizontal) is either to stretch or to crop as i said. In the first case (stretch) the image is distorted, in the second case, you remove 33%. No one on earth can do something about this.

Titan is another story. Basically its 2.35:1 ratio (that means it is a 35mm picture). For those movies, we can approximate to 21/9 (a 2.33 ratio)

So in this case getiing rid of the black bars means that you need to enlarge or stretch vertically, but once again about 33%

In both cases, losing one third is a lot. You might lose important part of the action.

That said, it's easier to do it from 21/9 to 16/9 than from 4/3 to 16/9 because the action tends to be "centered" horizontally  (but not vertically) on the screen so losing parts on the sides is not always important.

But, as there is a UI, converting Titan is not a simple task. Someday i will replay it and see if it's possible.

New version incoming. Just an update to the front end to allow cobraab rom to launch from command line.

For anyone wishing to integrate this into a front end its very easy. In most cases it is just a case of changing the path and exe file.

Many thanks for this and all the work put into making it, downloading now :-)

Now that's finished downloading time for some fun...

It sure looks good on a LG 55" OLED

LOVE these games! Does anyone know if Dragon's Lair 2 use the special rom from Singe 2?

No it doesn't. You need Singe for making those things. The original roms are real roms, impossible to change.

Hey guys I am having an issue with Daphne and Daphne 4k. The games all launch fine but there is no sound. They both worked previously and I didn't change anything on my computer. The log file says it can't find an audio device. Any ideas how to fix this?

First post updated.

The sound issue seems to occur with some onboard intel graphics on Windows 10. I can't duplicate it right now though so might have been fixed in an update.

Thanx for this nice pack, great work! ;-)
The 4K versions are awesome.

I was just testing the games and most of the games are working just fine.

But i have four SInge games that won't start:
Crime Patrol

Who shot Johnny Rock

Space Pirates

Time Traveler
All 4 games give me this error:

--DAPHNE version 1.0.10
--Command line is: C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\DAPHNE_4K_V5\Daphne\daphnesinge.exe singe vldp -fullscreen_window -framefile C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\DAPHNE_4K_V5\Daphne\singe\spacepirates\spacepirates.txt -script C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\DAPHNE_4K_V5\Daphne\singe\spacepirates\spacepirates.singe -noserversend -fastboot -noissues -volume_vldp 64 -sound_buffer 2048
--CPU : GenuineIntel 4000 MHz || Mem : 2048 megs
--OS : Windows NT Derivative || Video : NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1070 Ti
--OpenGL: Compiled In
--RGB2YUV Function: MMX
--Line Blending Function: MMX
--Audio Mixing Function: MMX
Script C:\Program Files (x86)\Games\DAPHNE_4K_V5\Daphne\singe\spacepirates\spacepirates does not exist.
Unknown command line parameter or parameter value:
-script
Setting sound buffer size to 2048
Bad command line or initialization problem (see daphne_log.txt for details).
To run DAPHNE, you must specify which game to run and which laserdisc player you are using.
For example, try 'daphne lair noldp' to run Dragon's Lair in testing mode.

Tried launching from the Daphne 4K frontend and directly from the bat files, but they won't start, all other games are working fine.
Anyone has a hint what the problem might be, thx a lot!

Absolutely incredible work LizardKing... a 48 year old arcade veteran now has a big lockdown smile on this face!

I spent way too may 50p's and £1 coins down at arcades in Weymouth on Space Ace and Dragon's Lair despite having a 45 minute train ride from my home to play it!

Have sooooo wanted a 4K version for my 65 inch OLED... thanks again!

Hi. I'm building an emulation PC at the moment, one of the last parts i've always wanted is a Daphne collection and its my current focus.

This forum is the place to be for that of course (like you lot need telling) and i have read and been amazed by the amount of work done here in ripping, scripting, upscaling and sharing these old laserdisc games.

I'm going to thank many of the other contributors shortly on their threads and i do have some questions along the way, but i just wanted to say...

THANKS :)

Updated 2021-02-24

- Star Blazers (Singe 1) by Karis and Famawizard has been added. Starblazer which is just the Japanese version of Galaxy Ranger has been removed to avoid confusion. Star Blazers was in fact in the arcades but only in Japan,

- New reverse uip/down keyboard controls option. This only affects mach 3, galaxy ranger, astron belt, and cobra command. These games used a kind of flight stick in the arcades and up down was reversed. To me, it seemed like a useful option and makes playing these games more logical and playable on a keyboard or joystick. Link updated.
