  2. Could someone explain how to use those .img files? I downloaded Chase HQ 2 but it's a img file and I don't know what to do with it. I tried opening it in Power ISO but it tells me the file can't be mounted.

    @ 68hc11 : Imagine you want to replace The São Paulo Avertising (see below) - Launch the game with ElSemi's Model2Emu in windowed mode - Start a race and run until the texture you want to replace appears on screen - When you reach the texture, go to the Model2Emu's menu on top of the game, select "Game", then clic on "Dump texture cache" - Stop the game, open the folder "TEXCACHE" in the Model2Emu folder: the texture you want + all the textures around in the scene appear as black & white PNG files with addresses as names The São Paulo textures are : 8144019_BB3F464F.png (red texture) + 8166019_E487A537.png (yellow texture) In this case you find two textures because the Daytona Engine (or Model 2 ?) can't give more than one colour to a texture, so one texture will be colored in red, the other one in yellow. - Now you can replace the SAO PAULO texture by a picture of your choice, respect as much as possible the original ratio (64x256 pixels can be replaced by a picture sized 128x512 pixels for example), use PNG format ! ! In this particular case, the "Yellow" picture will be above the "Red" one, so replacing the 8166019_E487A537 picture will matter, the other one can be replaced by a small blank or transparent picture. - Watch how the picture is oriented and reversed and respect this (Use an editor) - Create a "script" folder in the Model 2 Emu folder if it doesn't already exist (but it should) - Create a daytona.pat file (a simple text file with the .txt extension replaced by .pat) (if you want to apply your change on Daytona clones, just create other pat files (daytonam.pat, daytonas.pat, same names as the zipped roms) In your .pat file write this : 8166019 E487A537 1 myreplacedtexture.png meaning 8166019 E487A537 : the name of the original texture given by the dump, without the "_" 1 : The way the texture is colored or illuminated (shader mode 0, mode 1, mode 2,... ) (more information in model2lua.txt, see below), I had to modify my own shaders for a few textures displayed too dark... myreplacedtexture.png : your PNG file, give it the name you want. - Place your replacement PNG and your .pat file in the "script" folder. - Play and enjoy your change... model2lua.txt -------------- Texture replacement The texture replacement file is a file named like the romset ended in .pat in the SCRIPTS folder (ex: daytona.pat) Each line of the file indicates a texture replacement. The format is ID1 ID2 Format Filename ID1 and ID2 are the ID pair used to identify the texture to replace Format is 0 if you replace the texture with a grayscale texture, so it's handled through the model2 coloring pipeline (like original ones) 1-15 if your texture is already colored. A Pixel Shader with name (with x equal to the number you specified) will be used to color the texture. Some samples are provided: is an example of linear lighting (the way 1.0 version colored this textures). is an example of lighting through the luminance conversion table specified in the game (see the shader comments). There is no restriction to the size of the new texture (apart from your videoram) Filename is the name of the file to use as texture (.png). Alpha transparency is supported for Colored textures. In order to make a texture replacement, you need to know the ID pair of the texture you want to replace. To know the ID pair, first dump the texture cache from a running game using the Game menu option "Dump texture cache". This will dump the cached textures in png format to the TEXCACHE folder. The file name of the dumped files is ID1_ID2.png that way you can get the IDs and the corresponding texture as base for replacement. The .pat files are read on game load, so you need to re-load a game to see the new textures. You can start a line with // indicating a commented line,and it will not be processed

    @Pookerman Thanks for the kind words on the "screenshot site" !! I'm doing my best to share it quickly, but I'm a little perfectionnist and I don't give anything before I'm 100% satisfied In fact it can be considered as 99,9% finished : I didn't want to show pictures before the release but my best friends (and testers lol) thought that I was a bit long to decide to release and that it would be a good idea to show my work a little bit during the time I look at the last details... PS: je suis français...

    HDR on ? High Dynamic Range ? Does TeknoParrot, or the old games that run on it support it ? I doubt it, to be honest. Framelock ? Some games are synced to the monitor frame rate. I read somewhere about a "music rhythm" game, the music was synced to the frame rate of the monitor. Other monitor / GPU frame rate than expected by the game ? Unplayable, unwinnable. Not sure if it is this game, but you see what I mean, by synced audio / video and interface needs.

But I use a 64 GB one, works fine. Other people even use bigger capacity SD cards. It needs to be FAT32 formatted, 64 KB clusters. [Hidden Content] Online gaming with the Dreamcast in 2019 ?     What is the correct way to extract Lindbergh BIN images ? With 7Zip or PowerISO ? Overwrite existing files or not ? Quote: The accepted answer is not really correct, although possibly may work in some scenarios, is not the reason "why", and privilege doesn't really apply here. The problem is going to arise in most scenarios when unpacking a .tar.gz or other similar non-Windows file-system format. The problem is due to the order in which the files are being unpacked. In Linux for example, "dangling sym-links" are permitted, therefore no error occurs, and everything works fine, but on Windows, that is not the case. It is unpacking and trying to create a symbolic link to a file that does not yet exists, which is not permitted. Forcing it may unpack the files in some situations, or may unpack them but they will be of 0 size. Extracting multiple times MAY fix the issue in other situations, depending on how they were packed, or manual extraction in the correct order. For 100% success, unpack them on a system that permits symbolic links to non-existent files (i.e. Linux), or the system the file was intended for. This is not a "permission" issue, but an OS one. You are not going to see this error on files that were packaged on the file-system you are using, only on files intended for "foreign" operating system, like .tar.gz, .dmg, etc.

    Nope, a GD ROM, ODE Optical Disk Emulator. A plugin replacement for the Dreamcast Optical Drive. To put GDI Giga Disc Images on a SD Card. [Hidden Content] Only for the 3.3 Volt, VA1 models. This is a hobby project of the developer. It is pretty difficult to obtain a ODE from him, he sells only at certain predetermined times. And those times are very short, mostly it is sold out in a few minutes. There are people whom try to obtain the GDEMU allready for years ! He also developed other ODE's for other consoles, check his site ! There are fake ones on aliexpress, and ebay. I do not recommend to get those. Some are DOA Dead On Arrival. Firmware can not be updated on fake ones! And to be fair, I like to support the original developer in this case. He reverse engineered the GD Rom drive, all fail, no new parts, nor laser units available. The Sega Dreamcast and Sega Naomi are all ready almost 20 years old ! There is also another version available. But what I read about it, it is more expensive, and less compatibilty. [Hidden Content] GDEMU also has a nice GUI. GDMenu by neuroacid. A tray for the SD slot Some good info about GDEMU can be found here. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] Look, look good, and you will find links to ALL Dreamcast GDI Giga Disc images, 1:1 ! TOSEC and TruRip versions, I use the TOSEC versions on my GDEMU CDI versions are down sampled versions of original images which fit on a CDR. Dreamcast, the only console which I know of, which did not need a modification to run backups ! [Hidden Content] Come to think of it, GDROM drives where also used in Sega Naomi, Triforce arcade machines ! I have no idea if these drive units are 3.3 Volt versions. I have no idea if it will fit or work ! [Hidden Content] There are a few mods to use a (ide) harddisk in a Dreamcast. But I do not recommend those ! As far as I know, a lot of modifications are needed ! [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] Replace the BIOS chip, with a BIOS which supports booting from a SD card via the serial port to boot Dreamshell. And the compatibilty of Dreamshell ......not good as far as I know, no CDDA games support. [Hidden Content] [Hidden Content] Playing from SD through the serial port with DreamShell ? Forget it, to slow data throughput. Why a SD Card reader on the serial port ? With Dreamshell you can read write your VMU's Visual Memory Unit game saves to a SD card.     Damn good idea .....playing the classics. I could startup my Dreamcast with original GDEMU to enjoy some Sega Rally 2. Sega !!! How is the weather down south ? Here, up north ? It is freaking cold out here, snows all day !!! I'm not getting outside today. Gonna enjoy Daytona 3 BTW, when I'm "down south" in Europe this spring / summer at family. I am going to enjoy some plums, nectarine, apple, apricots, cherry honey, straight from the hives, straight from the surrounding fields. Anyhow, I hope all goes well with your bee colonies, in these days, all the pollution, diseases, et cetera. No bees, no fruit nor vegetables in the stores, yeah bananas, that's it !! Humans in the fields, pollinating the last few flowers on plants and trees. Because the bees all died out !! Je me permet de déranger un peu Ne serait il pas intéressant de mettre à un endroit bien rangé l'ensemble des ROM avec le détail des patch a intégrer au des solution apportés pour les bug divers? car le fils de discussion est juste fait plus de deux semaine que j'essai de lire et comprendre..j'ai des jeux qui marchent d'autres j'avoue pas trop trouver de solution suis peut etre naz et ça existe déjà peut être...mais ou:)? sinon je fais comme d'autre avec un message met mes 10 jeux qui marche on va me filler 10 reponses differentes fait pas trop avancer dans le bon sens non?

    r766 Composite the alpha layers at the end of rendering. To do this we need to mask the alpha pixels with the opaque pixels from the next priority layer. Fixes some overlapping shadows in vf3tb that have different priority layers. I assume that was a game bug, but it works on the real h/w. Spin, t'utilises quoi comme compilateur, vc ou gcc?
